Rebekah is a "Jill of all trades" - wife, writer, NaNoWriMo Municipal Liaison (chapter head), cat wrangler, and budding urban farmer all wrapped up in one.
Even after making up stories and writing them down her whole life, it took a while before she thought of actually being a writer.
She prefers the strange, surreal, weird, and fantastical to everyday normality. It shows in her writing. Most of her stories take place in worlds and cultures that don't exist in this world, with problems that require sacrifice and honor to be solved.
She is a writer who is a Christian, but does not consider herself an exclusively Christian writer. Her writing may contain religious undertones, but her goal is to enlighten, not preach, and to influence those who would never venture into Christian fiction at a library or bookstore.
I love picking titles.
hehe, it’s so nerve-wracking for me >_<. This is for the contest next week, too.
What makes you want to change the title?
I’ve never been completely happy with it. It fits the story, but I don’t feel that it has ever fit the style or voice of the book. When I read the title “Weeping Willow”, fantasy is not what I think of. I think more of a historical romance.
Also, when you punch “Weeping Willow” into Amazon for a search, you get a bunch of memoirs. I don’t want people think of memoir when they’re looking for my book, lol!
Aw! I like the title but I can see what you’re saying. If that’s the case, I’m a little more inclined toward “The Dryad’s Daughter,” though I like the phrase “witch-queen.”
I love the poll idea for a title! My favorite is The Dryad’s Daughter because it rolls of the tongue, definitely says, “Fantasy,” and gives a little hint about what the story might be about – a dryad child figuring out who she is. Yes?
Pretty much, Tam! There’s bit more to the story than just that, but that is the gist of it
I like The Dryad’s Daughter title best. It hints at magic, relationships, maybe even a little girl power.
I actually like “Weeping Willow”, but I do agree that it doesn’t suggest a fantasy novel. “Blood of Trees” is my choice.
The story sounds interesting. I love how it just grew out of that one scene.
Well, no one likes my choice, but I’m sticking with Witch-Queen of the Dryads. I also like The Dryad’s Daughter too.
me likey the voting, that was fun.
Blood of Trees really stood out from the rest for me. I would pick up a book with that title if I saw it on a shelf.
