#Nightgale, #writemotivation, and Literary Heroes, oh my!
As I was catching up on reading blogs yesterday, I came across a couple of things that I’m going to participate in . . .
First up is the #Nightgale blog challenge!
This is being run by Stevie McCoy at Glitter Word. The challenge is four 200 word stories, one each Thursday in January. The theme is immorality vs. mortality, and I can’t wait to get started! The topic promises lots of interesting readings . . .
The #nightgale hashtag is to be used for Twitter discussion 🙂
Next up is #Writemotivation, being run by K.T. Hanna! The theme of this is simply encouragement. There are no prompts, etc. We simply list our goals for the month of January, and encourage each other (hence the #writemotivation hashtag)! If you don’t follow @KTHanna on Twitter, you need to. She’s awesome.
So, my January 2012 Goals:
1. Finish editing Weeping Willow short story for entry in a contest due Jan 31
2. Make sure entries for Oklahoma Writers Federation, Inc. contests (at least 4 of them) are written and polished, due Feb 1.
3. Get first draft for Writers of the Future entry at least 50% complete.
4. Get a backlog of blog posts.
1-3 are mandatory. #4 is one that would be nice, but is not necessary for my satisfaction.
If you remember a little while back, I posted something about a project that I am blessed to get to be a part of – Literary Heroes.
It’s probably going to be after Jan 1 that we launch this project, but that was our original launch date. Holidays took over, after all!
Many of the lovely ladies behind this (we’ve been corresponding over email, and it’s wonderful to get to know everyone!) have turned out to have some of the talents required to get this thing up and running (graphic design, coding, etc), and so we don’t need $800 anymore, and have dropped our goal down to $400.
However, all donations are still being matched, so the same amount that is donated to Literary Heroes will ALSO be donated to the Office of Letters and Light (IE: the brains behind NaNoWriMo, ScriptFrenzy, and Camp NaNoWriMo).
So, if you have a little extra cash (even just a dollar or two), would you please consider donating to help launch Literary Heroes? It will be a community by writers, for writers, and we have many ideas for you guys!
And one last final thing today . . .
I’m ‘promoting’ for my mother today. She’s got her facebook page started for her ministry work, Merry Heart Productions. Would you please check it out and like it if it’s something you might be interested in? She doesn’t have much up yet (I’m still teaching her the ropes of having an internet presence!), but I promise there’s more to come!
Have a great day, everyone! I still have Christmas stuff to finish, gah!!
