Motivation Monday – #WriteMotivation update
It’s Monday again! (HOW?!) I’ll announce the winner of Saturday’s The Forever Girl giveaway at the end of this post :).
I’m starting a part-time job today. When this goes live, I’ll be on my way to a little insurance office in a neighboring town to work with Lissa from Quid for Quill. It’s exciting, and yet I’m sad to lose a portion of three of my days each week. But we need the money right now, so I’ll do what I gotta do :).
Now, on to the goal updates . . .
- Social Media-ish – 125 blog followers. 500 twitter followers. 100 fans on my facebook page. I have plans to attain this, we’ll see how it goes!
Blog – in progress! I’m well past the 100 mark now, and with the Writer’s Campaign, l expect that number to jump a bit more over the next few days.
Twitter – well over 400 followers now. It’s really just a matter of following people, since most of them follow back.
Facebook page – also in progress, I’m up to 79 now! - Two outlines started, and hopefully completed – one for my Father Time story, one for the Rishka/Kashtophim story that came to me for the #Nightgale blogfest.
Working on this – I’ve got character charts started for Sachi (from the newly-named “Undoing Chronicles), but I haven’t even started on anything for Father Time yet . . . - Write one short story. This is to prevent what happened this month – I’d like to have a store of short stories I can pull from for contests.
Since I now have a bazillion contests I want to enter at the end of April, need to start one something soon. - Edit at least two chapters a week of Weeping Willow, more if it goes well. The intention is to be able to start querying/pitching in May.
Um, yeah . . . hasn’t happened yet. - Pre-write at least one month’s worth of my Sunday Devotionals.
I’ve got up through March 4th written. Would like to have most of March’s written by next week, and then I’ll cross this off the list.
And, as promised, the winner of The Forever Girl giveaway is . . .

You look like you’re doing really well to me. We’re not even half way through February yet 😀
Keep at it, I know you can do it!
Thanks, KT! I think I have a much better handle on it this month than I did last, though we’ll see how the job affects it soon enough!
Those sound like attainable goals. Congrats on your social media-ish success. 🙂
On a side note, I’ve tagged you. Hope over to my blog to see your 11 Questions.
Oh boy for tagging! It may be a little while before I post my response, but we’ll see what I can figure out . . .
You’re doing very well on your goals! And I’m sorry working with me puts a dent in your writing day, but it certainly is fun having you here. I love being able to shout back and forth with you between rooms instead of IMing. lol =)
It’s not working WITH you that puts the dent in, it’s working period :P. But yes, shouting back and forth through the office is much more fun, hehe.
You’re right on track! 🙂 May you reach the goals you’ve set!
Thanks! I’m the little engine that could this month . . . at least in theory!
Great goals and progress. Having a backlog of short stories is a great idea. Congrats on the job, too.
I also wanted to let you know that I tagged you as well: http://averymarsh.blogspot.com/2012/02/followers-campaign-games.html
Thanks! Oy, tagging . . . like I told Natasha, it may be a bit, but I’ll get to it! 🙂
So much progress being made. Very commendable.
Keep it up.
Thanks, Angela!
It sounds like you’re doing awesome on your progress. Good luck with your part-time job. 🙂
Thank you, Cherie! I think it will go well :). Especially since I’m determined that it will stay only part-time. Hehe.
Good luck with the new job. I completely understand how “working period” creates a time crunch the rest of the week. I’m sort of in the same boat. I keep telling myself that whenever student loans are paid off, or when my husband and I are finally blessed with a baby, that will be when I can quit (or at least cut down on) working, which will definitely allow me to write more. But like you said, you do what you have to. Maybe you’ll get some new material for writing from your new job, too!
Your writing goals look great. I can’t wait to see what progress you make over the next bit of time. Good luck!
Thanks, Shannon! Life is tough, but making our dreams possible is what makes it magical. We’ll both get there 🙂
Great writing goals! I never thought about social media goals but that’s a good idea…the thing is finding the time to balance social media with writing when we’re wearing lots of other hats, too. Any tips?
I was using Tweet Deck, I’ve just started using Hoot Suite. I’m still so much in the learning stages myself, but I just try to check in on Twitter and Facebook several times a day. I keep forgetting about Google+, but I’m working on remembering it, lol!
Just make sure you interact with various other people. If you interact with the ONLY the same people all the time, then you’re not expanding your audience.
